Episodic Memory Memory Systems

  • Measured in humans

Free recall of studied lists is a standard episodic test; people tend to recall items studied close together in time one after another (the temporal contiguity effect), a benchmark seen across recognition, paired associates, and autobiographical recall and at scales from minutes to years, shown by 96–100% of individuals in large datasets such as PEERS (172 younger and 38 older adults)
